Request from the office when you book lunchesAs the resort gets busier, it makes things much more efficient if you let us know restaurant, number of people, 12 or 2, inside / outside and a 2nd choice.We’ve had a few folk cancel reservations. This isn’t cool at all. We are jeopardising our ability to make the reservations. Restaurants only have a few hours to do their trade, we can’t hinder that.If you aren’t sure the clients are going to stick to a reservation for any reason, just have them book themselves, or you call and book it in their name. On the subject of phonecallsWe’ve heard a couple of comments about instructors not being able to make phone calls without using the internet. Not being able to call a client or taxi etc means you can’t do a very good job. Not being able to call the Bergbahnen at an accident is unprofessional. New snow – Remind yourself where you can ski off pisteThere are only a few places you can go off piste in uniform. “5 metres off the side” is not a thing. If you aren’t sure where the places you can go off piste, don’t go off piste. Z gets super busy in mid FebYou will find the buses get busy, lift lines get busy. You can’t expect to get to the Mex at 084 and be on time for Furi at 9am.Let’s make sure we carry on being awesome through the peak weeks.We have a load of kids groups mid feb. We’ll have a meeting of all the kids group instructors before the week kicks off. Mid season chatsWe do these each winter. They are a chance for you to let us know how your winter is going / if there’s anything you think we could do to make it better. There’s a calendar. You can choose a time and who you speak to. We’ve allocated 20 minutes slots but let us know if you think you’d like longer. Over the course of four days, my children had the pleasure of learning from Louise, while I had Philippe as my instructor. The entire team was incredibly well-organized and helpful, ensuring every detail was taken care of. Both Louise and Philippe displayed exceptional technical knowledge and teaching skills, which made the lessons enjoyable and highly effective. Louise was amazing with the kids—encouraging, patient, and inspiring. By the end of the fourth day, we saw a remarkable improvement in their skills and confidence on the slopes. It was clear they were having a great time while learning so much. Philippe was equally impressive as an instructor. He has a keen eye for detail and provided me with clear, actionable feedback on what I needed to adjust each time we skied. His ability to communicate effectively and focus on the finer points helped me make significant progress in a short amount of time. Both instructors were not only extremely competent but also warm, friendly, and easy to connect with, which made the entire experience even better. Thank you, Louise and Philippe, for making our ski holiday truly memorable! Laura W – Skiing with Emily was amazing My experience skiing with Summit Ski School was fantastic. My instructor was Emily and the progress I made within five days was outstanding! I started out on the baby slopes, and by the end of the week I was skiing down red runs and even managed to ski from Zermatt into Cervinia which felt a massive achievement for someone who has only been skiing once before. Emily is extremely fun and bubbly, but she was also incredibly patient and very reassuring when I had a few wobbly moments, and helped me to get down the mountain safety when I felt unwell at the top of the slopes. I was worried this would knock my confidence and I wouldn’t be able to ski, but with Emily’s kindness and reassurance I managed to overcome this mental block, and I made huge progress. She is great at providing tips to improve your skiing technique, all whilst making you feel you can conquer anything! My friend and I had joint lessons, and we both were really gutted when our time skiing with Emily came to an end! I’d highly recommend Emily as an instructor, and when we get the chance to return to Zermatt I’ll be asking for Emily! Thank you for everything :) Lea-anne – Great, positive experience for first time skiers What a wonderful experience. Leading up to the ski lesson, communication was perfect. We organised a private ski lesson for our adult children. Sam, the ski instructor was amazing and successfully catered for the differing abilities and throughout the lesson, provided the right amount of ski challenge for each of our children. At the end of the lesson, our children felt confident to stay on the snow and continue to develop their newly learnt skill. Thoroughly recommend Summit Ski & Snowboard School. Stefano Q – Jake is the best instructor we’ve ever had My kids and I had an amazing time with Jake Marshall-Naef. We have been skiing for several years and have been fortunate enough to have private lessons in many great resorts. Summit is a top-notch provider, and Jake is the best instructor we've ever had. He's a rare combo of high IQ and EQ who can get technical when needed but more importantly understands people and what they need. My kids literally love him - they've been learning a ton with him while having fun. He is one of the reasons why we keep going back to Zermatt. Patricia L – Got me skiing again Haven’t skied in about 20 years and was nervous to try again. Louise was my instructor. The first day was a half day lesson and got my bearings. The weather for the second day was not too conducive so I cancelled. The third day we had perfect conditions. She got me skiing the blue runs and we had a great time. Not only taught me how to ski again but my form and confidence improved and she took lots of pictures and videos. Erica was very responsive to booking. Traveler11111111111 – Made a great trip exceptional – Thanks so much Rob, best ski guide ever Spent an outstanding week skiing with Rob who set a new bar for ski guide experience for us. Great guy, super bright and personable, and knew everything about the area. Knew every corner of the mountain like the back of his hand as well as lots of great details about the area, the geography, history etc. Always found us the best snow and conditions based on the weather, traffic on the mountain etc. Provided great instruction ranging from the advanced skiers to the more beginners/intermediate in the group. Always found a place for our group to ski together that satisfied everyone across various skill levels. Incredibly thoughtful and courteous and always looked for ways to help out - getting our skis laid out after lunch etc. Provided great advice for our time in town as well (logistics restaurants where to get a massage etc). Been here so long it seems he knows half the people on the mountain. Smart logistical planning to make sure we got around the mountain, saw everything, always got to lunch reservation or wherever we needed to be on time. Took some great photos for us as well!! Great with the kids as well as the adults. Rob is a treasure and we are so appreciative! Our week in zermatt would have been way less cool if we hadn’t found Rob. Also Erica and the team at summit did a great job and were super helpful generally. Provided great advice on things like ski rentals, where to make lunch reservations, where to get ski lockers, and whatever else we asked. Bravo all around! Paul H – Excellent I had two x 2 and a half hour lessons with Jake and both lessons were first class. He was quickly able to identify areas of improvement and provide techniques to address them.. Rob is a first-rate instructor - very knowledgeable about the mountain, very responsive to our needs, and very helpful with his technical ski-ing advice. He was fun to tour the mountain with, and enjoyable company over lunch in a charming mountain restaurant which he reserved for us. Jsand8217 – Excellent experience, saw a big improvement in my skiing I initially signed up for 2 days of 3 hour lessons in Level 3, I had such a great experience learning from Dan, I ended up signing up for 3 additional days. The group size was never more than 4 people and Dan really did his best to provide individual instruction, continually guiding each group member on what to work on and progressing each of us to the next step as we were able. He was extremely patient if needing to review instructions and continually adapted if a concept wasn't sinking in. The other group members and I agreed these were by far the best ski lessons we had ever had. Jessica F – Ollie is the best I had two beginner group lessons with Ollie. He was absolutely amazing. When we ski Zermatt, after snow, Rob’s availability is the most important criteria. His ability to listen, guide and provide is unmatched anywhere.Our skills over the past week after booking Rob each day have improved more than I could have hoped! The skills he taught us in past years all remained and now my wife and I feel like we could be carving in heaven!Rob gives SO MUCH MORE than tips and lessons. His mastery of the entire holiday experience is always available to ensure each run is magical - pointing out animals and sharing info on the geography and history makes the moment truly come alive.If you like delicious lunches and sublime dinners, Rob will make superb recommendations and even book the right tables at the perfect times. Again! Google: Ceilo Sharkus I had the best lesson ever with Sam this week! He was so patient, kind, and thoughtful in his instruction. I’ve taken many ski lessons before but I’ve never had a breakthrough with my turning like I had with Sam! He really helped me build confidence to go down steeper slopes. The beginner areas he took me to were so fun and easy to learn in! Joanne Gray Loved my time last week with Summit. Great people and really get your confidence up. Loved Love, Gorgeous Georgina and Ewan was a Star. Derek Mok Had a really good experience at my first ever ski trip at Zermatt. I have learned a lot from Gerogina. She provided plenty of both live and video feedback, and offer individual and group drills to work on the technical aspects which require improvement. While this is a group lesson, and there were plenty of group skiing together, there is also a feel of private lesson with feedbacks which are tailored to each student, so hats off to her for pulling that off! Damien Wintour Our family hired 2 instructors from Summit at Zermatt for a week of morning lessons, and we were very happy with our decision!Erica in the office was helpful from the get-go, and both instructors, Georgina and Mathias, had great personalities, were punctual, cheerful, and managed to level-up the technical skills of all in our party. The fact that everyone speaks very good English certainly helps. As we had lunch reservations at various restaurants across the mountain, it was impressive to see the instructors pick suitable terrain for the different standards in our party, and then get us all to our lunch destination on time and without hassle. Highly recommended if you want to improve, see more of the mountain, and have fun at the same time. Kahina FD I can’t recommend Summit Ski School enough! We had Louise as our instructor, and she was absolutely incredible. I was a complete beginner, and my little one was also just starting out, while my husband had more advanced skills. Louise managed to balance all our levels effortlessly and made the lessons fun and engaging for everyone. Over the course of a week, I learned so much and gained confidence on the slopes, which I never thought was possible. Louise was extremely patient, kind, and understanding, always adapting the lessons to meet my needs. She was so friendly and approachable that my little one adored her, and it was tough to say goodbye at the end of the week. This experience made our trip to Zermatt unforgettable.
