The season starts with a couple of weeks training to get to know Zermatt, Summit and the rest of the team. It is usually around the end of November, the exact dates of the start will be in your contract.

No you do not.

We ask you to be here for the pre season training so you can get to know Zermatt, Summit as well as the rest of the team.

No. A lot of the communications with the office are on WhatsApp and there is WiFi in all the lift stations. But it is essential that you can make and receive phone calls wherever you are on the mountain, to stay in touch with clients, the office, or call the emergency services.

So whatever contract you have, make sure it can make calls in Switzerland.

Tax, medical insurance and pension funds are obligatory in Switzerland and can add up to about 25% of your earnings. More details here

Insurance for medical care is paid through the social charges deducted from your wages. The most you should ever have to pay towards any medical bills is an excess should you get sick (CHF 800). There is no excess on medical bills following an accident.

Liability insurance. While working, we cover all liability insurances so you have nothing to worry about.

The only insurance you might want to purchase: Cover for the travel and time you’re here before you start work, personal liability (outside of work) and / or cover for personal possessions while you’re here.

Like in all ski resorts finding seasonal accommodation is incredibly challenging. If you know people in Zermatt or have any connections then that is a great place to start.

We have some accommodation available for the team to ensure that those new to Zermatt can find somewhere to live. The information about them is available here
