Corona Update

Changes to the ‘return to UK’ rules in the last few days def help the influx of Brits to Z. Boom.

Also takes a bit of pressure off the worry about giving clients COVID (still best to try not to).

Numbers in the Omicron wave are expected to keep going up til the end of the month / beginning of Feb before decreasing fairly rapidly. So we still need to keep an eye on the Swiss rules etc.

Meeting points

Even though it’s quieter now, we’ll make sure we stay in the COVID task force good books and won’t meet at the bottom of the lifts or at Sunnegga.

Reminder again that 5 minutes early (ready to go) is not just a suggestion.

Intro about what it is & what we do. A reminder that we collecting old lift passes is hugely helpful for raising money for new kit. Also that he is keen to run a L1 during the season if anyone is keen.

We hired a private ski instructor (Sonnia) for our daughters (13 and 10) while we were in Zermatt. They have both skied before but they said they learned more with Sonnia than any other ski instructor at other resorts. When they walked off the gondola their smiles were SO big. I just knew they had the best time. Highly recommend.

Jake was very helpful; he was fun, and the kids enjoyed the lessons. Michael had great attitude and we enjoyed skiing with him.

My husband and I travelled to Zermatt for our 30th anniversary trip. We decided to hire Tom from Summit Ski school to give us a tour and take us around our first day of skiing so we could get acquainted with the mountain. It was a great decision!! Tom was personable and informative. He gave us the lay of the land, helped us with some skiing tips and ended our day with reservations in a fabulous mountainside restaurant. I would recommend hiring an instructor if it is your first time on the mountain. It was nice to have someone to ask all our questions and take us to all the cool places. Thanks Tom!. Titled “Defiantly worth it”.

Highly recommend Summit and even more highly recommend Ash Morton. We spent 3 days with Ash and he guided us around the mountain expertly. Can’t say enough about Ash and what great fun we had spending time with him.

Taking ski lessons from Chris was definitely one of the best parts of our entire trip. He is energetic, hilarious, and keeps you smiling and laughing all day long. We had the best time!! Plus, he’s a great ski instructor. Our kids picked up very quickly and so much of that was owed to Chris’s great instruction. He was fantastic! Our kids just loved him.  I also need to give a shout out to Tom. On the first day, we had four newbie kids skiing, including one very timid seven year old. Out of the generosity of his heart, and without asking for any additional compensation, Tom stepped in to help Chris teach our seven year old for two hours while Chris worked with the older kids. I was blown away by that act of kindness. Chris and Tom work so well together. Summit Ski School is definitely the way to go! They are amazing!!!

Hired a “ski guide” for 3 hrs to take me around any “hidden” runs or the guides favourite spots – it was literally the highlight of my holiday. It was easy to book with a quick phone call and an online payment submission with the guide meeting easy with the guide wearing a recognisable blue suit with “summit ski” writing. I joked my guide, Helen, was a “rent a friend” as she was so personable and inquisitive over our 3hrs together. From a skiing perspective, she asked my interests and expectations then we proceeded to just ski for a few hrs and indeed, i found a number of runs i missed on my preceding days. Big recommendation to hiring a ski guide, summit and Helen!

Great overall experience for our 3 kids (3, 9, and 16 yo), who each got their personal instructor. Instructors were wonderful with the kids. Each one made real progress: our 9 year-old became the king of backcountry skiing, our 16-year-old did his first 360° turn on Day 2.

Great experience with Summit Ski School. My family used 3 instructors (Harry, Jack and Tom) All were very knowledgeable and patient.

It was Christmas Day, 2021, and I decided to give myself the gift of a ski lesson. It had been about 30 years since I skied, and I wanted to start at the beginning. The only class available to me at the time was a private lesson, and I took it. My instructor, Cara, was first rate! She was kind, compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable. Her positive outlook and winning smile was infectious and she immediately put me at ease. The lesson was scheduled for two and a half hours, and I enjoyed every minute of our time together! In fact, I laughed a lot! If you are an English speaker and are looking for a ski school in the alps, I highly recommend Summit! You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic – the instructors are incredible, patient, encouraging and lots of fun. I’ve done both ski and snowboarding lessons and cannot recommend them enough. An incredible team and company. Always go back to them and they never disappoint.

We had an amazing day with Harry. He was fun, easy going and a great teacher! Showed up early and met us at our chalet. Made our first day skiing the Matterhorn a great experience!

Really glad that we decided to book with Summit for our ski instructor – kids and I had an amazing 4 days with Harry B. We initially booked Harry for 1 day and after the first 30 mins of meeting him, we requested Harry to inform his office that we would like to have him as our instructor for the next 3 days as well. I had forgotten to bring my ski goggles and Harry noted it right when he met us. He was really kind to run home whilst in his ski boots to take his extra pair to loan me for the session. I was ok to ski without goggles but Harry was nicely firm on safety and sun protection. Thankful to have his guidance and help as it was indeed a cloudless super sunny morning that day. My kids (16, 13 & 9 years) enjoyed themselves very much on the slopes and Harry guided them to level up in their skiing, and even taught them key fundamental skills, ski jumps, boxes, ski backwards, in the snow park. They started with the blue slopes and progressed on to red slopes as well as a black slope on our final day! Thanks a zillion million, Harry B! 🙌🏻🤩

Harry was a very friendly coach who helped me and my siblings level by teaching us how to ski backwards and jump using our skis. He made the lessons very enjoyable overall, would love to go back and ski with him again

Amazing week of lessons with Steve from Summit. Excellent teacher, very patient, made the kids laugh lots as well as ensuring they made great progress, genuinely nice guy, can’t praise him enough. We will definitely be trying to book him next time. 5* experience all round.

this has got to be my favourite ski trip by far! i started out as a beginner skier on my first day at zermatt and was able to parallel ski by the end of my 5th day there thanks to Summit Ski School and our ski instructor, Harry B. He was really friendly and patient with us and gave us useful pointers and tips to help us out 🙂 he even took us to the ski park where we got to try out jumps and took us down a black slope when we were ready for it 😁 he made sure we felt safe and at the same time gave us the confidence to try out new skills. along the way when i fell, other Summit Ski School instructors went out of their way to help me out and it was very sweet to see that the instructors here are so friendly 🙂 i had the best time there and it really was the highlight of my trip. a big THANKYOU! to Summit Ski & Snowboard School, as well as our instructor, Harry B 🙌

Learning to ski with Summit was fantastic. Booking with them was one of the most straightforward things of our trip. We got confirmation early and received clear instructions on administrative matters along the way, including on the meetup, rental of equipment etc. Our instructor Brittany was patient, encouraging and detailed. She helped us identify what we weren’t doing right, and how we could do better each time we tried a drill. We spent two days with Summit as complete beginners, and were able to successfully attempt the blue runs on the second day! What a treat!

“Top notch instructors” I did a half day private snowboard lesson with Niamh from Summit. Niamh has an excellent coaching style and is able to convey technical information in a manner that is easy to understand and implement in your riding. We began the lesson by discussing goals and focus areas, and covered a lot content in just half a day. It was my first time in Zermatt and it was great to experience the resort with someone who knows it so well. Can’t recommend highly enough!

We had an awesome time in Zermatt with our instructor Ash. He was very patient and accommodating. We were very happy with our instruction and would definitely request him again if we are ever in the area again.

I had a great experience with Summit Ski School. I was able to book last minute group lessons for two mornings. There was only two of us in the group both mornings. The instructor was very easy going and patient, and gave me some really helpful tips and reminders. I feel more confident skiing than before those two lessons. Thank you! We are coming back to Zermatt next year, and I will definitely come back for more lessons.

For our second time with Summit we had high expectations, considering the great experience with had last season. Paul exceeded the expectations and thanks to his hints we managed to bring back the feeling we had at the end of last season. If you are looking for great lessons where to learn ski and have a great time, you are in the right place!

Fantastic experience with the team for the following reasons: – Brittany was able to accommodate to our last minute booking very seamlessly – Fin was an awesome instructor who was very very very patient and thorough with his instructions. I’d highly recommend to those looking to learn skiing in Zermatt!

I had 5 day snowboard lessons with Niamh. I have learned how to be a better snowboarder in various conditions. Niamh was a great instructor. I was having a blast on the slopes. Highly recommend Summit Ski and Snowboard School. Can’t wait to be back shredding again!
