Here is a list of all the website and apps that we like and use all the time.
Websites
Webcams
It can be so useful to have a quick look and see what the weather is really like up the top of the mountain, especially if there is an inversion!
Wind
Good to check in the morning just how windy it is, use either zermatt.net, the skguide app, the Zermatt tv channel or bergbahnen website.
APPS
Open lifts & weather
Matterhorn – the Zermatt app – This is the official app of the tourist office and shares some of the information with the lift company app but also has events and bus timetables!
Weather
Bergfex – Detailed weather forecasts at the top (Klein) and in town, shows the freezing level, as well as a quick view of all the webcams
Weather
Meteoswiss – really good for the radar to see if cloud or preciptation is headed our way. Also very specfic weather stations around the mountains.
Avalanche forecast
WhiteRisk – Whether you just want to know the avalanche forecast, a really detailed weather forecast and summary of what the weather has actually been or are planning off piste adventures. This is the official app of the Swiss Avalanche Institute.
Mountains
Peakfinder – A great app for showing you the names and altitudes of the mountains. Can be a really useful one if you have forgotten one, you can show clients the cool app, and the mountain without saying you didn’t know it!
Video analysis
Dartfish – This is our go to for video analysis. Great slow motion functions as well as the ability to write on the video. There are lots of apps out there like this and are great to use with clients.
